Government Relations
The Government Relations Division is responsible for developing political strength for ElectriCities and the two North Carolina Power Agencies – NCEMPA and NCMPA1. The division organizes member cities by creating grassroots opportunities to empower them and engage them in the political process.
ElectriCities Grassroots Network
Grassroots involvement and collaboration is a service available to all member cities. In addition to publishing the Transformations legislative update newsletter, the initiative offers:
- Grassroots mobilization
- Tailored legislative communications
- Constituent lobbying assistance
- Days of Caring
- Community presentations
- Point of contact administration
- Stimulus assistance
ElectriCities Legislative Steering Committee
The Legislative Steering Committee formed in December 2010. The committee’s purpose is to enhance the ElectriCities Board of Directors' involvement with legislative issues affecting public power communities and the power agencies. They will review and provide input regarding legislative analyses and strategies proposed by ElectriCities staff and consider recommendations presented to the board.
The committee members are:
