  • Senior Compliance Engineer

    We’re looking for an experienced electric utility industry professional to provide support in the following areas:

    Compliance with Reliability Standards. Provide oversight of the process by which North Carolina Eastern Municipal Power Agency, North Carolina Municipal Power Agency Number 1 and their members comply with NERC and SERC reliability standards:

    • Ensure that ElectriCities’ internal reliability compliance program is effective;
    • Monitor reliability standard developments and applications;
    • Communicate compliance issues to our stakeholders;
    • Represent the interests of our stakeholders within industry organizations and trade groups;
    • Manage relationships with NERC/SERC personnel and other stakeholders with respect to compliance activities;
    • Support a culture of compliance within ElectriCities, the Power Agencies and their members.

    Enterprise Risk Management. Support the development and implementation of an enterprise risk management (ERM) infrastructure. ERM includes energy market risk management and the incorporation of new regulatory and/or legislative mandates such as the regulation of swap markets by the CFTC.

    Regulatory/Legislative Compliance. Analyze regulatory and legislative filings, including their effects on our stakeholders. Assist with the development and implementation of associated strategies and policies. Represent ElectriCities and the Power Agencies in industry organizations focused on targeted issues. Maintain applicable relationships within the industry.

    Qualifications.

    • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, the sciences or mathematics;
    • At least 10 years of experience in a technical role in operations, planning or compliance in the electric utility industry;
    • Significant previous experience with electric utility reliability compliance standards, preferably in an organizational oversight role;
    • Excellent analytical and project manager skills; and
    • Great communication and teamwork skills supporting a track record of working with a diverse group of stakeholders to achieve a common goal.
