If there was ever a community synonymous with the word “history,” it’s Kings Mountain. The town takes its name from the Revolutionary War battle fought just five miles south, which is why the town’s motto is, “The Historical City.” Of the battle itself, Thomas Jefferson proclaimed it “the turning point of the American Revolution.” It became a regional center for sawmills and textiles during the late 1800s, and its proximity to Charlotte grew the town and economy. The city’s most recent theme is, “Active, Healthy and Historic Kings Mountain,” – a vision everyone who lives in this beautiful, vibrant community can achieve together.
