Job Summary
The Town of Benson is seeking the right person to lead all of its economic development, downtown revitalization and business recruitment efforts. We are located in Johnston County, North Carolina, only 35 minutes southeast of Raleigh and 35 minutes north of Fayetteville. Being situated at the intersection of I-95 and I-40, Benson finds itself in the middle of it all while continuing to maintain its small town charm. Our 3,500 residents will depend on the Economic Development Director to ensure all of the Benson’s economic development goals and strategic initiatives are achieved.
The expected hiring range is $45,000 – $60,000, depending on qualifications. Primary Responsibilities
The Economic Development Director will serve as the main point of contact and the leader of the town’s economic development activities.
This position is responsible for business retention and recruitment, marketing the town, working with land owners to promote economic development and partnering with community groups to meet common goals.
Under the direction of town management, the Economic Development Director will be proactive in furthering the economic interests of the community as established by the town board of commissioners.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will hold a degree in business administration, marketing, public administration or related field and have demonstrated professional and management experience in economic development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The position requires superior communication and interpersonal skills.
