Job Summary
The Town of Benson has an opening for a Line Technician III in its Electric Department. The hiring range for the position is $36,862 – $42,500 and benefits include paid participation in the North Carolina State Health Plan, paid dental, vision and life insurance, 5% 401(K) match, 12 paid holidays and two weeks paid time-off per year, and an abundant wellness program that includes incentives.
We are in need of a driven individual who will perform less hazardous and skilled technical work regarding all aspects of the electrical distribution system, including construction, maintenance and repair of underground and overhead electric lines. As an important member of our team, you will operate the line truck to set poles and transformers, assist with construction and repair work, and perform service work on trucks and equipment. Carry out these duties while working close to home and providing a valuable service to the local community.

Primary Responsibilities
In your duties as Line Technician III, you will participate in installing power line poles, stringing lines, making emergency repairs during electric power outages, and complete other related duties as required. Examples of these duties include, but are not limited to:
- keeping materials stocked.
- operating trenchers, backhoes and other light, medium and heavy equipment.
- operating and working in bucket truck to provide a variety of customer services.
- participating in substation maintenance and checks for leaking tanks, damaged or broken insulators.
- maintaining circuit breakers.
Worked is performed under regular supervision and is reviewed in progress and upon completion for conformance to instructions and accepted standards. This position requires frequent on-call and call-back responsibilities.
Job Requirements
Desired Qualifications: Graduation from high school supplemented by training in electrical principles and electrical distribution system experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You must possess a valid North Carolina class B commercial driver’s license.
