The Town of Benson has an immediate opening for an Electric Line Technician II in its Electric Department. The salary range for the position is $44,806 – $69,450 and benefits include paid participation in the North Carolina State Health Plan, paid dental, vision and life insurance, 5% 401(K) match, 12 paid holidays and two weeks paid time-off per year, and an abundant wellness program that includes incentives.
If you have proven experience in the installation, maintenance and repair of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems, apply with us today. We are in need of a driven individual who will perform technical work regarding all aspects of the electrical distribution system. As an important member of our team, you will perform more difficult and hazardous secondary and limited primary high voltage line work.
In your duties as Electric Line Technician II, you will participate in installing and aligning power line poles, stringing lines, making emergency repairs during electric power outages, and complete other related duties as required. Examples of these duties include, but are not limited to:
- Operating bucket equipment.
- Trimming and disposing of tree limbs by using the bucket truck and saws.
- Setting up work zones, trucks and preparing equipment and hardware for work to be done.
- Installing transformers, fuse cutouts and regulators.
- Changing out and maintaining equipment at substations.
The position will report to the Electric Line Superintendent. This position requires frequent on-call and call-back responsibilities.
Desired Qualifications: Graduation from high school supplemented by training in electrical principles and considerable experience at the electric line technician – second class level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You must possess a valid North Carolina class B commercial driver’s license.
