Job Summary

The Town of Front Royal is seeking qualified candidates for the title of Manager of Electric Operations. Under general direction from the Director of Energy Services, the Manager of Electric Operations is tasked with performing difficult technical and intermediate administrative work supervising the design, installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of the Town’s electric system.

The hiring range is $73,000 to $94,000 annually. Base salary and compensation are negotiable based on experience and qualifications. The Town offers a comprehensive benefits package. The Town of Front Royal is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Primary Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct the installation and operation, maintenance,
and repair of electric power transmission and distribution systems,
substations, lighting, and traffic signals.
• Coordinate work with other departments.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.
• Establish operating policies and procedures, goals, and objectives.
• Assist in the preparation of CIP and department operating budget.
• Analyze and project expenditures.
• Process work orders.
• Maintain appropriate records on work order totals.
• Supervise locating underground primary and secondary cable for the
Miss Utility Program.
• Supervise the testing and repairs on single and polyphase meters as
requested by customers.
• Review and oversee the right-of-way tree program.
• Review and oversee the monitoring in substations (SCADA).
• Perform maintenance on transformers and breakers.
• Review and oversee major projects involving the department.
• Review contracts and plans.
• Review work done by contractors.
• Receive citizen inquiries and complaints and participate in public
relations activities.
• Act as Director when required.
• Work during emergencies and inclement weather.
• Perform related tasks as required.

Job Requirements

Experience Required

Five (5) years of experience in a supervisory position in the electric field.

Minimum Education Requirements

Associate’s Degree, with broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field. An equivalent combination of education, technical training, and/or experience may be considered in lieu of an Associate’s Degree. Bachelor’s degree is highly desirable and preferred.
