We are looking for a dynamic individual to be part of our IT team, specifically working within the Customer Information Services (CIS) department. The Senior CIS Analyst is responsible for providing services to participating public power municipalities that encourages each municipality to fully utilize its customer information system to better serve their retail customers. This position will be located in Raleigh, NC.

Primary Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead overall project implementation for hosted CIS and other utility systems including all project activities such as planning, discovery, design, data conversion, testing, training, issues management, integration and post live support. Ensure that the product design meets customer needs and expectations and is delivered to high quality standards.
  • Design new solutions for customers leveraging the functionality of existing systems and provide the best functionality when integrated with third party products such as AMI, prepay, financials, GIS and work order management systems.
  • Provide primary user support to hosted CIS cities to ensure that they are able to utilize the hosted systems to perform their customer service and billing operations in a timely and effective manner. This includes utilization reviews, management of new releases and vendor management for escalated issues.
  • Develop, promote and conduct training programs for beginner, intermediate and advanced system users. This requires the use of online tools, creation of technical documentation and the ability to provide train-the-trainer classes.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of utility customer service and related field business processes to promote continual process improvement.
  • Support municipal utility executives in decision making for their organizations, providing data analytics, executive reporting and forums for learning about technologies to improve business and operational effectiveness and customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements

Qualified candidates will possess the following:

  • A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in computer science or business administration with study in project management.
  • A minimum of six years’ experience in the IT field with at least three years’ experience in application support, and/or systems project management. Project management training and/or PMI certification is a plus.
  • In-depth knowledge of utility customer service systems and operations as well as utility rate structures, metering and customer billing and accounting.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey technical information in an understandable manner, both in oral and written form.
  • Proven interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with all levels of municipal staff including the Council, City Managers, Finance and Utility Directors. Ability to maintain positive working relationships in potentially sensitive relationships with municipal staff, partner vendors and internal staff.
  • A friendly, service-oriented approach and the ability to establish priorities and resolve problems in a fair and professional manner.
  • Flexibility to travel, including overnight stays.
  • A valid North Carolina driver’s license and ability to maintain a good driving record.
