Job Summary
The Strategy & Services Division is responsible for leading long-term corporate planning efforts for the company and providing value-added services to ElectriCities Members. The Division develops and deploys programs to augment the efforts of the members. The Division advocates for action among the members through strategic messaging that is conveyed through conferences, training, regional meetings, and other outreach.
The Senior Member Engagement Specialist will work collaboratively with internal teams to support and execute engagement strategies with our membership. The employee will be responsible for establishing a digital engagement platform and enable information flow between members and ElectriCities. This includes evaluating key processes related to the engagement strategies with user groups, member committees, and internal subject matter experts. Key partners include Educational Programs, Communications, Customer Programs & Strategy, Grid Innovation, and key subject matter experts within ElectriCities and our membership. This role will be responsible for building the value of the association and member collaboration.
Primary Responsibilities
- Champion ElectriCities’ member understanding of the Public Power Strategic Plan and its key actions through event, digital, and member engagement strategies.
- Develop and execute strategies to increase understanding of the Public Power Strategic Plan and satisfaction with Member Outreach & Engagement offerings.
- Responsible for member digital experience to enhance member engagement and promote education, interaction, and information sharing between ElectriCities and its members.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop or source content for member engagement platforms to make relevant information available to the appropriate member groups.
- Partner with committee owners to deliver annual member engagement goals and strategies including the role of member working groups to increase member knowledge sharing, collaboration, and engagement.
- Coordinate relative project implementations to meet member digital needs. Partner with internal and external stakeholders to design and deliver efficient, useful digital member experience while increasing member engagement.
- Maintain roadmap plans for future digital improvements in partnership with stakeholders.
- Manage projects related to association services, the engagement platform, and other related work.
- Analyze member feedback and data to identify trends and areas for improvement within member outreach and education.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with members to understand their needs and preferences.
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness of member engagement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key partners, vendors, and content providers to enhance member offerings.

Job Requirements
Physical Requirements
The Senior Member Engagement Specialist must maintain the physical condition necessary to perform tasks in an office setting such as operating a personal computer, keyboard, and other peripheral equipment. Periodic travel within the state of North Carolina and within the U.S. for training and development purposes is required.
Controls
The Senior Member Engagement Specialist works under the general supervision and guidance of the Vice President, Member Outreach and Education, who reviews the employee’s work performance under ElectriCities’ guidelines in terms of overall effectiveness and provides professional guidance as needed. The Vice President, Member Outreach and Education also approves requests for vacations and other time off. This position is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field or equivalent work experience.
- 4+ years of experience in marketing, association services, communications, business content development in a service-oriented organization, or related experience.
- Consultative and Project Management experience are preferred skills.
- Demonstrated ability to present and communicate complex information effectively to a variety of audiences.
- Strong writing skills and AP style proficiency.
- The ability to oversee multiple simultaneous projects and work with a high level of energy and excel in a team-oriented environment.
- Willingness to accept responsibility and be capable of working on his/her own initiative with minimal supervision.
- Excellent problem-solving skills as well as verbal and written communication. Analytical skills desired.
- Proficiency in using CRM systems and other association management tools.
