Job Summary
Performs moderately skilled work supervising and participating in the work of employees responsible for the operation of a 24 hour utility control room. Related work includes responding to customer inquiries, dispatching field services, logging information, operating complex utility control systems not limited to AMI, OMS, and SCADA. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Electrical Engineering Manager. Supervision is exercised over all control room personnel.
Salary:
$21.71 – $35.33 Hourly
$1,736.85 – $2,826.73 Biweekly
$45,158.00 – $73,495.00 Annually
Primary Responsibilities
Overseeing operation of a 24 hour utility control room; scheduling work, responding to customer inquiries, dispatching, logging information, preparing reports and an operating complex utility control systems.

- Supervises and participates in the work of employees responsible for operating the utility control room.
- Supervises and participates in a 24 hour operation.
- Supervises and participates in dispatching load management devices using remote controls.
- Supervise and participate in receiving trouble calls, ascertains nature of problem and dispatches field service.
- Supervises and participates in monitoring and operating complex metering and control systems. Ensures functional operation of all systems, not limited to AMI, OMS, IVR, and SCADA
- Accesses, navigates, searches, and enters information in utility software applications not limited to CIS and GIS.
- Performs after normal work hours activities as needed.
- Ensures division, department and City policies, procedures and regulations are updated and followed.
- Maintains records and prepares reports on control room activities.
- Performs duties of Utility Control System Operator when required.
- Plans and schedules work of control room operators.
- Prepares division budget and monitors expenditures.
- Assists in the selection of employees; recommends selection, discipline, and discharge; evaluates work performance of employees.
- Performs related tasks as required.
Job Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Thorough knowledge of utility system control system procedures, related equipment and other computer operated systems; thorough knowledge of the activities and responsibilities of all City departments; ability to analyze problems and identify reasonable solutions; ability to operate a variety of controls manually; ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinate employees; ability to deal tactfully with the general public under stressful conditions; ability to speak distinctly over a two-way radio; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited community college with major course work in technology, business management or related fields and extensive experience in utility system control.
