Our Keys to Success in the Plastics Industry

North Carolina has a long and successful track record of supporting the plastics and composites industry. From workforce training to consulting services, powerful resources exist to support continued growth of this important sector, such as:

The North Carolina Polymers Center of Excellence provides polymer testing, polymer processing, and workforce training to increase knowledge within emerging technologies in the plastics industry.

The Composite Center of Excellence in Kinston, N.C. is a 33,000 square-foot training center designed to serve the growing aerospace industry in Eastern North Carolina. The centerpiece of the facility is a 2,950 square-foot composites training lab, operated by Lenoir Community College, to support pathways for careers such as aerospace assembly technicians, composite mechanics, logistics and material handling, manufacturing process support, quality assurance, automated machine operators and programmers, and other support positions.

The Nonwovens Institute was launched in 2007 as the world’s first accredited program for the interdisciplinary study of engineered fabrics. The Institute, which has a heavy focus on
polymer technology, is dedicated to expanding the nonwovens industry through research, training and education.
