The American Public Power Association has issued Mutual Aid Commendations to six ElectriCities member utilities for their power restoration efforts in the wake of Hurricane Ida’s devastation. Crews from all six utilities answered the call from Terrebonne Parish Utilities Department in Houma, Louisiana, and helped restore power to its customers during August and September 2021.

“Mutual aid is at the heart of what public power does, and the public power community thanks you for stepping up to help a neighbor in need—whether they are next door or thousands of miles away,” APPA CEO Joy Ditto said in a letter to the commendation recipients.

Our wholehearted congratulations and appreciation to these utilities that received Mutual Aid Commendations:

  • Greenville Utilities Commission
  • City of High Point
  • City of Statesville
  • Town of Tarboro
  • Town of Wake Forest
  • City of Wilson
