Information Collection

ElectriCities is the sole owner of the information collected on electricities.com.  ElectriCities collects information from our users at several different points on our Web site.

Registration

Users are not required to register in order to use the site.  In order to receive email notifications of news stories, a user must first complete the email list registration form.  During registration a user is required to give contact information (such as name and email address).  We use this information to contact the user about services on our site for which he or she has expressed interest.  It is necessary for the user to provide unique identifiers (such as name, member city, position title) so we can properly fulfill requests.

Order Form

We request information from the user on our order form.  A user must provide contact information only (such as name, email, and shipping address).  This information is used to fill customer’s orders.  If we have trouble processing an order, the user  information is used to contact the user.

Contact Form

A user may provide contact information (such as name, email, and telephone number) on our contact form when making comments or asking questions.  This information is used to respond to the user in addressing their questions or concerns.

Log Files and Cookies

Like most standard Web site servers, we use log files and cookies for the purpose of analyzing user trends and FOR THAT PURPOSE ONLY.  This includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, platform type, date/time stamp, and number of clicks to analyze trends, administer the site, track user’s movement in the aggregate, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.  IP addresses, etc. are not linked to personally identifiable information.

Third party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads on sites across the internet, based on your past visits to our website. We may use this anonymous information for remarketing, in order to display more relevant ads to you on other websites at a later time. Third parties, such as Facebook, may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to collect or receive information from our website(s) and use that information to provide measurement services and target ads. Information submitted to us is only available to employees managing this information and partnered third party API’s (application program interface) for purposes of contacting you, sending you emails, or targeted ads based on your request for information.

Third parties, such as Hotjar, may track user behavior, engagement, and conversion paths in an effort to gain a better understanding of landing page performance. Information will be looked at from a holistic perspective and will not be directly linked to any additional user information.


Communications from the Site

News Updates

If a user wishes to subscribe to our news update email list, we ask for contact information, such as name and email address.  Out of respect for our users’ privacy, we provide a way to opt out of these communications.  Please see the Choice and Opt Out sections.

Service Announcements

On rare occasions, it is necessary to send out a strictly service-related announcement.  For instance, if our service is temporarily suspended for maintenance, we might send users an email.  Generally, users may not opt out of these communications, though they can ask for their name to be removed from our communications list, thus eliminating any future contact from us.  Please be advised, however, that these communications are not promotional in nature.

We communicate with users on a regular basis to provide requested services and, in regards to issues relating to their account, we reply via email or phone, in accordance with the user’s wishes.

Security 

We take reasonable precautions to protect our users’ information.  All of our users’ information is restricted in our offices.  Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are granted access to personally identifiable information.  Our employees must use password-protected screensavers when they leave their desk.  When they return, they must re-enter their password to regain access to user information.  Furthermore, ALL employees are kept up-to-date on our security and privacy practices.  Finally, the servers that store personally identifiable information are in a secure environment, in a locked facility.

Correcting / Updating / Deleting / Deactivating Personal Information

ElectriCities of North Carolina, Inc. has built multiple Mobile Applications. This SERVICE is provided by ElectriCities of North Carolina, Inc. at no cost and is intended for use as is.

This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.

If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible within the mobile applications unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Children’s Privacy

e-Tracker is the only application that is directly written for children. This application allows students to track their home electrical usage compared to temperature. To complete this assignment students can use either the application or a freely provided notebook. For the application to calculate the students heating and cooling days, the student must provide a valid ZIP CODE. The ZIP CODE is only stored on the student’s mobile device while sent to ElectriCities of North Carolina, Inc. servers for temp data we do not store any correlation between a particular device and associated ZIP CODE.

Some Third-Party Libraries like Google Play Services and Flurry Analytics may collect PII and that is defined by their Privacy Policies. With regards to Flurry Analytics ElectriCities of North Carolina, Inc. is only collecting specific device information to determine developer resources, example number of Android vs iOS installs.

All other Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.


Notification of Changes

If we decide to change our privacy policy, we will post those changes to this privacy statement, the homepage, and other places we deem appropriate so our users are always aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we disclose it.  If, however, we are going to use users’ personally identifiable information in a manner different from that stated at the time of collection, we will notify users via email.
